There’s no better time to turn the page on a new adventure than summer! At Hot Springs County Library, our Summer Reading Program is more than just books — it’s a season-long celebration of learning, imagination, and community.
Designed to keep young minds active while school’s out, our Summer Reading Program encourages children, teens, and families to stay curious and connected through reading and enrichment activities. Each summer, we offer a series of engaging events that make learning fun — from themed storytimes and crafts to games, scavenger hunts, and community guest visits.
The library comes to life each week with a fresh lineup of kid-friendly programs:
Storytime adventures that spark imagination
Crafts and hands-on learning tied to weekly themes
Special events and performers to surprise and delight
Reading challenges and prizes to keep kids motivated
And yes — it’s all completely free!
Readers of all ages can track their progress using our Summer Reading logs. Every book, page, or minute brings participants closer to small rewards — and entry into grand prize drawings at the end of the summer. Whether they’re flying through chapter books or soaking in picture books with a caregiver, every story counts.
While much of our programming is geared toward toddlers, kids, and teens, we invite readers of every age to participate — even parents and grandparents! Modeling a love of reading is one of the best gifts you can give the young people in your life.
Come into the library to pick up a reading log, check out our event calendar, and get started. Stay updated by following our Facebook page, where we post photos and reminders about what’s coming up next.
Whether it’s a far-off galaxy, a mystery to solve, or a new animal to discover, there’s a world waiting inside every book. The Hot Springs County Library Summer Reading Program is your child’s passport to adventure — and we can’t wait to read with you.

To meet the needs of the people of Hot Springs County for information, cultural enhancement, and entertainment through print and related media. This will be done by collecting, organizing, and making available to the public significant books and other media and by giving guidance in their use.
